Cobbett Hill Earth Station prepares for the launch of services on the
Amos 5 satellite.
In preparation for the launch of Amos 5 expected Q4 2011, Cobbett Hill Earth Station has commissioned a new four-port circular feed for a 9.2m antenna which is currently being serviced ready for operation on this new satellite.
Amos 5 will operate at 17⁰ East, an orbital slot to which Spacecom has access following an agreement with the Moscow-based Intersptunik intergovernmental satellite organization.
The Amos 5 footprint is strategically designed to help the expansion of satellite communications predominantly over the African continent.
The satellite will launch with a total capacity of:
- 14 X 72 MHz C-Band transponders
- 4 X 36 MHz C-Band transponders
- 18 X 72 MHz Ku-Band transponders
Cobbett Hill has signed multiple transponder deals on Amos 5 and has invested in RF hardware and a new iDirect chassis in preparation for services contracted pre-launch.
