worker to work weekends and some evenings. Must be reliable, honest and
local. A knowledge of IT would help and any knowledge of the satellite
industry is a bonus also. Must be able to work with computers and

Key Job
Objectives:
To take responsibility for the day-to-day administrative,
technical and customer related operations of the Earth Station
including:
-
Working as part of a team to ensure a high degree of availability is
maintained on customer traffic by minimizing or coordinating outages
or downtimes caused by maintenance activities, software or hardware
changes or other equipment related problems.
-
To
assist with problems, faults or other requests that may be
communicated by existing or potential customers. At all times
ensuring these matters are dealt with rapidly and courteously.

To be
proactive in responding to the needs of the business.

Able to work under pressure, to
handle multiple tasks and prioritize actions to be taken.

Able to express thoughts clearly
& concisely - both written and verbally.

Able to interact with customers
to provide a first class service.

Experience of Personal Computer
hardware, software and Local Area Networks essential with the
ability to trouble shoot, fix and prevent.

Experience of LAN security
software and configuration of networking components to ensure
optimum performance.
-
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft
Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, I-Explorer, Outlook and Visio.
-
Experience in Telecommunications
and Satellite Communications is essential.

Proficient in the use of a
spectrum analyzer to monitor and fault-find within RF systems.
-
Able to install a Vsat system
given the necessary link requirements.
-
Able to install and troubleshoot
SCPC, DVB-S2 and TDMA RF links.
-
Experience with iDirect hub
technology – in particular, the setting up and management of an
iDirect hub and the clients remotes.
-
Able to assemble and modify PC’s
physically and install all OS and other software accordingly.
-
Experience in electrical and
electronics engineering.
-
Ability to install fully and
decommission single phase and three phase electrical supplies
and circuits.
-
Familiar with safe working
practices - particularly those involving high voltages,
non-ionising radiation, moving heavy objects, working at
heights.
Other Tasks:
-
Ensure the accurate and timely
logging of all significant events.
-
Be
actively involved in indoors and outdoors tasks such as,
installation of new equipment and the required electrical supplies,
maintenance routines, circuit line-ups, end-to-end tests, updating
of customer records, circuit schematics and other station
documentation.
-
Provide first line support to
other parts of the organization or to Earth Station customers
who may be reporting problems or seeking assistance or
information.
-
Undertake other tasks as may be
requested by the Manager.
-
Willing to work on day or night
shifts in response to the needs of the business.
